Could've been worse, could've been better, show me more metal.

I'd have to see more angles, I'm leaning towards liking it though.

It's probably about right, based on the prototypes.

Did Ford hold Aston Martin's design team hostage?

Now you remind me. Since Obama is leaving in 3 years or something, this is the Mustang he's gonna buy when he's no longer a president.

Given that he drove a 2005 Chrysler 300C, it's probably not a far-off guess. He seems more of the "big 'murican sedan' type though, than a Pony car buyer.

Yes. It was called the Premier automotive group.

When he visited the Washington DC Auto Show, he was really impressed with the GT500, and some weeks later I heard some story that he had claimed he would buy the GT500 were he still in Chicago. I never got to check out the latter but the former was widely covered.

Too much like the fusion!
![]() 10/27/2013 at 16:41 |

This is an AM grill. doesn't look like a Mustang or Fusion to me.

Good thing the GT500 doesn't require a gas guzzler tax, if that's true.

Handsome, I suppose, but hardly the radical leap that Ford's been suggesting.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 16:49 |

Looks pretty similar to the Evos concept.

CTS v the Germans? I'd like to see how that turns out..
![]() 10/27/2013 at 17:03 |

inb4 over 9000 comments saying it looks too much/too little like the previous one.

Its called "Ford PAID for the design that Aston is using right now. And the engines. And everything honestly"

Turns out that it seems if the same driver drives the BMW M5, Cadillac CTS-V and the Audi S8, it seems that the CTS-V is actually faster than the M5 and head to head with the S8..

I am so sick of this rhetoric. It has become fashionable to call a Ford design an AM even without looking.
I had a coworker look at my Focus ST and say "Austin Martin Grill, eh?". It's clear he had no idea what he was talking about, but has heard everyone else talk about it so it must be true.

That hood looks long, and I love it.
![]() 10/27/2013 at 17:49 |

Eh I actually think this one does, but the focus and fiesta st grilles, which get a lot of flak for being aston-esque, don't in my eyes.

It's cool looking, but it suffers from "angry-stare-itis" like 95% of every other new cars on the road. Also, it doesn't grab me like the current retro styling does. Who says retro is overdone?
![]() 10/27/2013 at 18:39 |

Pretty good I'm guessing. CTS is proving to be an impressive car just like the ATS
![]() 10/27/2013 at 18:56 |

it's in the same neighborhood as the Aston front end.

This isn't even about the grill. Look at the car from the wind shield back.

I agree and I love retro designs.
IMO, they bring the cars back to their beginnings and help avoid that "cookie cutter" look that most cars have these days.
I mean really, who wouldn't enjoy an old car with all the modern suspension, drivetrain and gadgets of today?

The "like" in me is weak with this one, hopefully it will grow on me as time passes.

Many of you all Opponauts know I'm a Mustang guy. Just getting that out of the way so when I say that I think the best thing about the arrival of the S550 is that it'll drive the prices on S197's way down and, in my personal opinion, make the S197 look all that much more attractive.
Sure, it's not a giant leap ahead and no one was really expecting the design language to change dramatically, but once the Pony goes AmeriEuro, I feel like the retro elements in the pre and post facelift S197's will become all the more attractive.
I can't wait to drive the S550.

Yes! I want an S197!

Ok, is it a bad looking car, no.. But is it the 'Revolutionary re-design theyve been egging on about.. oh Hell NO!!! Its the same car with revised sheet metal YET AGAIN!!!! Common FORD WTF!!! the 2005 mustang is 8 years old and your looking to extend its run for another 5 years!!! Are they mad!. Was it not Ford complaining about slumping mustang sales? so why on earth produce a so-called *new* car that look just like the current design. Ok yes im being harsh. im sure 60% of the car is new. But let it be said theres alota people our there that dont know the meaning of the phrase 'all new' cause brother this car is not All new. Well lets hope companies like Saleen, Roush and the aftermarket can deliver a better take on that design.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 02:31 |

ahh confirmed thats not it. its very close but thats another 3d rendering as well. and not a very good 3d model at that.
![]() 10/28/2013 at 02:33 |
|
Its a fake, Though close to the actual design, this image is a fake. and the car is another 3d rendering. and a bad model at that.

I'm optimistic that it'll look better in person, and I'm psych'd about the EB turbo 4 option, but I just couldn't resist a few tweaks...
